Hidden Things

Hidden Things

At first, Adam and Eve were happy in the the beautiful garden home provided for them by their loving God. But they had not been there long before Satan appeared as a serpent, insidious and artful. Satan persuaded Eve to eat of the fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden. Then Eve persuaded Adam to eat of the tree. Their eyes were opened, and they knew they were naked. So, they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves and they hid from the presence of God full of shame and guilt.

Sin demands to have a man by himself. It withdraws him from the community. The more isolated a person is, the more destructive will be the power of sin over him, and the more deeply he becomes involved in it, the more disastrous is his isolation. Sin wants to remain unknown. It shuns the light.
— Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together, 112-113.

Sin always brings guilt and separates us from God. It causes us to turn from God and hide from his presence.  Nothing is hidden from God.  There is no darkness to dark for God to see through.

Thankfully, there is no sin that places the sinner out of God’s forgiving grasp.  God absolutely loves us.  He created us in His image.  He saved us with the blood of His Son, Jesus.  It is God’s desire that we live a life of joy and peace found in only in His restoring Grace.

1 John 1:9 if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
